The effect of climate and land-use change on pollination and biological pest control services for macadamia in South Africa

I am interested in ecosystem services and agroecology. The conflict of biodiversity conservation and agricultural production is a central subject for me, as well. My PhD is a part of the South African Limpopo Landscapes Network - SPACES2:SALLnet.
One objective of this project is to investigate the effect of climate change, land-use change and management interventions on ecosystem services for arable land in Limpopo, South Africa. My research focuses on the providers of pollination (insects) and biological pest control (bats and birds) in macadamia orchards. Therefore, we conducted exclusion experiments and visual as well as acoustic recordings on macadamia farms in Limpopo.
