Press release: Conference on German-Chinese Cooperation

Sino-German Professors' Forum on 10 and 11 May 2019 at the University of Göttingen


(pug) Cooperation between German and Chinese universities is the focus of an international conference on 10 and 11 May 2019 at the University of Göttingen. The 11th Sino-German Professors' Forum at the Convention Centre by the Observatory is titled "Sino-German Cooperation in Science, Technology and Higher Education". More than 70 participants from the scientific community will discuss current trends as well as new developments and substantial challenges in various fields, such as natural and engineering sciences, data science and artificial intelligence, medicine and higher education.


In addition, the conference offers opportunities to initiate new joint projects and to discuss related practical issues such as the acquisition of appropriate funding. In addition to exchanging experiences, the aim of the Sino-German Professors' Forum is to develop project-oriented recommendations in order to promote cooperation in research and higher education between Germany and China.


"Especially in view of the intensive and diverse relations with our Chinese partners, I would like to extend a warm welcome to the numerous guests from Germany and China," says Professor Hiltraud Casper-Hehne, Vice President for International Affairs at the University of Göttingen. "I am sure that the Forum will provide many innovative ideas and important impulses for the further development of our successful German-Chinese higher education cooperation".


The Sino-German Professors' Forum is an initiative of the Society of German Professors of Chinese Origin and serves as a platform for interdisciplinary exchange between German and Chinese professors. The meeting in Göttingen is organized by Prof. Dr. Xiaoming Fu from the Institute of Computer Science, with the support of the University of Göttingen and the Academic Confucius Institute Göttingen.
