W2 Professorship in Applied Crop Nutritional Physiology (f/m/d)

This will be a joint appointment by the University of Göttingen and the K+S An-Institutsverwaltungsgesellschaft mbH.

We are looking for a scientifically recognised personality with a profile that covers the field of plant nutrition in research and teaching with a focus on stress tolerance and resource use efficiency, especially with regard to essential and beneficial plant nutrients and the resource water. In research, the candidate should have a focus on physiological mineral functions in the plant and mineral interactions with respect to productivity and stress tolerance. Experience in the field of micronutrients or foliar nutrient uptake is desirable. In research, the position should substantially strengthen the faculty focus areas „Sustainable productivity, food security and food quality“ and „Biodiversity and resource management“ and make clear reference to issues of agricultural sciences. A focus on crops under productive cultivation conditions in the field is required. We are seeking an outstanding, team-oriented researcher using current research and analytical methods with a strong international publication record as well as experience in teaching and with the acquisition and implementation of research projects – all relative to the candidate’s career stage.

An interdisciplinary orientation and cooperation both within the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences to actively contribute to the profile-forming research foci as well as with other faculties and members of the Göttingen Campus are expected.

The position involves teaching tasks in the form of subject-specific contributions to the Faculty’s Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes and the doctoral programme. The Master’s programs „Agricultural Sciences“ (Crop Sciences), „Sustainable International Agriculture and Biodiversity“, „Crop Protection“ and „Soils and Global Change“ should find special attention. Due to the profile of the professorship with its focus on national and international research fields, the successful candidate should be able to teach in both German and English (after a training period, if necessary). The University of Göttingen emphasizes research-oriented teaching.

Appointment requirements are laid down in Article 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act in its currently valid version. As a rule, junior professors and other members of the University of Göttingen that have obtained their doctorate from this university can only be considered for a professorial appointment if after the completion of their doctoral thesis they either have transferred to another university or have worked for a minimum of two years in research or science elsewhere. As a Public Law Foundation, the University of Göttingen is entitled to award professorships. Details will be provided upon request.

Applications from scientists from abroad are explicitly welcome. The University of Göttingen strives to increase the proportion of women in areas where women are underrepresented and therefore explicitly invites qualified female scientists to apply. The University has committed itself to being a family-friendly institution and supports its employees in balancing work and family life. The University is particularly committed to the professional participation of disabled employees and therefore welcomes applications from persons with disabilities. In the case of equivalent qualifications, applications from disabled persons will be given preference. In order for the University to be able to protect the interests of the applicant, information about a disability or equal status should already be included in the application.

Candidates are invited to send their applications in English containing a curriculum vitae, certificates and transcripts, a publication list, a record of teaching experience, a brief research perspective, and a list of successfully acquired third-party funding no later than April 14, 2024 to the Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences (Prof. Dr. Stephan von Cramon-Taubadel) via the online application portal: https://lotus2.gwdg.de/uni/uafb/w2aZ_CropNutritionalPhysiology_2023.nsf/bewerbung
