Grant for a Ph.D in Economic Sociology at the University of Brescia (Italy). At the same time associated Member of the German Graduate School. Assistent at the Faculty of Poltical Science at the University of Florence. Seminars and tutorship whithin the course of „Economic Sociology“ (Prof. Carlo Trigilia).

18. February 2002:
Discussion of the Ph.D in Economic Sociology at the University of Brescia (Supervisors: Prof. Lorenzo Bordogna and Prof. Leonardo Parri). Title: "Mezzogiorno and Eastern Germany: Policies, Social Capital and Local Economic Development in the 90s". The work has been evaluated as publication worthy by the examinating commission.
On 22.06.2003 It has been awarded as the best Ph.D on Southern Italy (Saraceno Prize) by the Association for Industrial Development in the Mezzogiorno“ (SVIMEZ).

July 2001-July 2002:
research grant of the Dipartment for Political Science and Sociology at the University of Florence.
