Jonathan Yainishet, M.A.
Jonathan Yainishet is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology with an interest in the political anthropology of East Asia in general and transborder dynamics on the Korean peninsula in particular. Jonathan studied anthropology and philosophy in Heidelberg, Arizona, Göttingen, and Seoul. In his PhD project titled “North Korean Migrants, Ethnic Nationalism, and Multiculturalism in South Korea” he studies processes of ethnic and national identity negotiations of North Korean migrants in South Korea.
Jonathan is a doctoral fellow of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes (German Academic Scholarship Foundation).
