At the Top of the Rankings

CHE University Ranking
The University of Göttingen, as well as the departments of Business, Economics and Business Information Systems represented by the Faculty of Business and Economics, are regularly ranked and listed by external ranking-bodies. In Germany, the University is also included in the CHE University Ranking conducted by the Centre for Higher Education Development. It is the most comprehensive and detailed ranking that exists in Germany.

CHE examines more than 300 universities and colleges of applied science in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands. The ranking includes 37 subjects. A third of the subjects are newly evaluated every year. In 2017, Business Administration, Economics and Business Information Systems are also included.

Handelsblatt ranking 2017
In the Handelsblatt (German business magazine) ranking, German-speaking economists are evaluated based on their research strengths. The University of Göttingen Department of Economics moved up in the ranking of 2017 by 3 positions, placing 6th after Köln University and before Frankfurt/Main University. In terms of individual rankings of academics, Professor Dr. Holger Strulik ranks 1st place. Professors Dr. Helmut Herwartz and Stephan Klasen, PhD, are ranking 35th and 44th place, respectively. KUBS Worldwide Business Research Ranking: University of Göttingen ranks first in Germany and 22nd worldwide in International Business research
The Georg-August-Universität Göttingen is the best German university in one of the "KUBS Worldwide Business Research Rankings". In a comparison of current research achievements in the field of "International Business & Strategy", it ranks 22nd in the period 2016 ("Season S") to 2018 ("Season F"). Within Germany, it is thus the leader, followed by the Technical University of Munich (rank 31 worldwide) and the Technical University of Berlin (rank 71 worldwide). The University of Leeds, which has its own Department for International Business with 14 professorships, leads the overall ranking. Other prominent universities, such as the University of Pennsylvania or Harvard University, rank 9th and 25th worldwide.

In its ranking, the Korea University Business School (KUBS) compares publications from 86 renowned business journals divided into seven different research areas and thus generates a database of around 40,000 publications. The "International Business & Strategy" section comprises ten different journals, such as the Journal of International Business Studies, the Journal of World Business and the Strategic Management Journal. Hochschulranking 2019 of the WirtschaftsWoche - Göttingen Economics Ranked 8
On behalf of the business magazine "WirtschaftsWoche", the consulting firm Universum interviewed 650 HR managers across Germany to find out which universities (universities and universities of applied sciences) they preferred to recruit from and which criteria they paid particular attention to. In economics, the University of Göttingen was ranked 8th. In addition to the natural sciences and law, the ranking primarily refers to business-related subjects such as business administration and economics, electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, business informatics and industrial engineering.

Eduniversal Worldwide Business Schools Ranking/ Masters Ranking
The Faculty of Business and Economics also belongs to one of the "EXCELLENT business school with reinforcing international influence" ranking in Germany according to the "Eduniversal Worldwide Business Schools Ranking 2016".

Emerging/ Trendence Global Employability Ranking
The "Emerging/ Trendence Global Employability Ranking 2015" lists the University of Göttingen at 87th place and among the top eight German Universities most frequently selected by global employers.
About the ranking: The French consulting firm "Emerging" surveyed employers on universities they rely on, and on the qualities that made job candidates most employable. The ranking was carried out in collaboration with the German consulting firm "Trendence". According to Emerging and Trendence, the survey included 6400 employers from twenty countries.
