"Assessment land use/cover change of urban growth for sustainable development with the supporting of satellite remote sensed data: a case study in Danang city, Vietnam"
In 01/01/1997, Danang was separated from Quang Nam Province and has officially become an administration unit that directly belongs to government. From there, this city has incessantly accelerated in many aspects, in particularly the land use/cover change. This has caused the loss of farmland in the urban periphery area. Therefore, studying the land use change in the urbanization of Danang city is very essential.
The proposed research will be guided by the following questions:
1. What are the current systems of land use in Danang city and how have these systems evolved over time?
2. What is the state of land cover in Danang city and how has the spatial and temporal distribution evolved overtime (10 yrs approx)?
3. What are the drivers of land use/cover changes in a local context? What are the critical developments at present, and can the effects of change over time be quantified? How to identify the local effects of vulnerable and sustainable components to interacting perturbations?
4. What are the associated economic and social benefits delivered by or directly linked to land use/cover systems in Danang city at different spatial and temporal scales, and what are their interdependencies?
5. How does the trend of spatial land use help political decision-making variables and land use planning?
The out come of this study is to support the sustainable development of urbanization. A better understanding of the complex interactions of these changes over time should assist decision makers in the formulation of regionally adapted policy interventions, which is proper with the benefit of national economics, and has the most efficient.
