Beschreibung Abstract:
Being a country of departure and transit for several decades, Niger became a key partner for the European Union (EU), following the Valletta Summit and the establishment of a trust fund for migration in 2015. As regards migration management, it is mostly described by the European Union as a proactive and constructive partner and its cooperation is cited as a model.
This presentation aims to demonstrate that Niger is not just a receiver or implementer of European policies, but to establish that this process of externalisation of European policies, on the contrary, creates a variety of opportunities for the country, against the backdrop of government deficiency and its dependence on foreign aid.
