Apply for a PhD project in GGNB

You wish to do your PhD in the Göttingen Graduate School for Neurosciences, Biophysics, and Molecular Biosciences? Apply now! We have no application deadlines and PhD projects in our school can start throughout the year.

Exception: the integrated MSc/PhD programs Molecular Biology and Neurosciences (deadlines: 15 January). For details see their websites.

For general information on earning a doctorate at Göttingen University, see this page.

You are eligible to apply to GGNB if:

a) you have successfully established contact to a GGNB faculty member who has expressed an interest in your application and who may be able to offer you a PhD position if you pass the selection process. You may apply up to 4 months before the possible start of the PhD project.
Make sure to include a short statement by the faculty member who is interested in your application and may be able to offer you a PhD position, including details on funding and a preliminary project title. Important: without this statement, we will not be able to process your application;

b) you have already secured a doctoral position with a GGNB faculty member. You have to apply within 3 months after the start of the PhD project.
Make sure to include a confirmation by the supervisor that he/she has offered you a PhD position, including a preliminary project title, the starting date of your project, details on funding and suggestions for your thesis advisory committee (if already available).

If you are currently a student of the MSc programs "Developmental, Neural and Behavioral Biology" or "Molecular Life Sciences: Microbiology, Biotechnology and Biochemistry" at Göttingen University, please contact Dr. Kerstin Böse (kboese@gwdg.de) for details on the application requirements.

Please note: as of December 2014, we do not accept unsolicited applications (formerly the so-called Route 1) anymore.
