Beschreibung | In this talk we will present a proposal on how to describe the Batalin-Vilkovisky (BV) formalism within the framework of noncommutative geometry. To reach this goal, we will focus on the finite case, that is, on gauge theories induced by finite spectral triples. After having argued why the BV formalism is expected to find a natural description within the framework of noncommutative geometry, we will describe how the two extension procedures appearing in the BV formalism, that is, the initial extension via the introduction of ghost/anti-ghost fields and the further extension with auxiliary fields, can be described in terms of spectral triples, by introducing the notions of BV spectral triple and total spectral triple respectively. |
