Details about the Institute of Computer Science

The Institute of Computer Science (IfI) is part of the faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. Within the computer science curriculum, the institute offers lectures, courses, seminars, exercises and practical laboratory courses from the field of core computer science (Kerninformatik).

The institute contributes to several study programmes such as Applied Computer Science for Bachelor and Master degrees as well as Applied Data Science (B.Sc.). Furthermore, the institute trains Ph.D. (Dr. rer. nat.) candidates in the PhD programme in Computer Science, provided with in the Georg-August University School of Science (GAUSS).

Several research groups are mainly involved in the area of communication systems including Software Engineering for Distributed Systems, Telematics, Computer Networks as well as Databases and Information Systems. In cooperation with institutes of related fields, such as the Institute of Information Management Systems, the Institute of Medical Information Systems as well as the Department of Bioinformatics, related aspects are explored in common research projects.
