Vernetzung Studienberatung

To help them provide sound advice, study and examination advisers can call on a wide range of information from other degree programmes and institutions including advisory services. The advisory services networker is in charge of the university-wide advisory network, which has met monthly since January 2009. She assists the study and examination advisers to obtain and provide information as well as with interfaculty cooperation, and facilitates the discussion of issues concerning the advisory services as a whole.

Following an in-depth introductory period of about six months the study and examination advisers are also trained in relevant issues such as advisory skills and conflict management and can call on supervision by colleagues.

Assistant deans of studies can also make use of the opportunity for an exchange at the monthly network meetings, especially on issues of quality management: the agenda includes topics such as course evaluation or graduate surveys by the university as well as the development and design of new degree programmes. The networker acts as facilitator and discussion leader at this stage as well.
On top of their introductory period, assistant deans of studies are also able to take part in a Further Professional Development programme which is specially tailored to the work that takes place in the offices of the deans of studies.
