When studying abroad academic recognition of credits earned abroad is crucial. Thus it is all important to get this clarified, if possible before taking off from Göttingen or upon of start of your studies at the partner university at the latest. To this end contact the study officer for your program well in advance and discuss with him the study plan for your period of study abroad. Setting up a learning agreement is strongly recommended, in some cases (e. g. Erasmus+) it is mandatory.

Learning Agreement

Getting credits earned abroad recognised is quite easy. Simply drop your academic record at the study officer for your program.

Mobility: Conversion of grades and credits

This page serves as a first orientation. It is not a binding statement. Binding regulations regarding the conversion of grades and credits will be made in the learning agreement.

EU/Erasmus

All courses successfully completed at the receiving institution will be recognised as so-called "freie Anerkennung" in the respective study subject ("Fachgruppe") with the same number of credits as given by the receiving institution. Grade conversion will be made via the "Bayerische Formel".

Non-EU/Global Exchange

All courses successfully completed at the receiving institution will be recognised as so-called "freie Anerkennung" in the respective study subject ("Fachgruppe"). Grade conversion will be made via "Bayerische Formel". If the degree program does not specify ECTS credits: Credit conversion will be made with factor u=60/(c/y) with the total number of credits of the foreign degree program c and the length of the program in years y.
