German language skills as a requirement to enroll for a regular course of study

At the time of application, proof of German language skills on at least a basic level (Grundstufe) must be submitted. All supporting documents must be submitted as notarized copies. The supporting documents must be submitted in translated form, unless the originals are in German, English or French.

Whoever has received admission in Göttingen for a regular course of study must submit proof of having passed the accredited DSH-2 test for the enrolment (for some degree programmes, you may also have to submit proof of DSH-1 or DSH-3 tests). You can take these tests at the Lectorate for German as a Foreign Language (Lektorat Deutsch als Fremdsprache) or request an exemption from this test there, if you can submit proof of an equivalent examination. A DSH-certificate, which was acquired at a different university will only be accepted, if the DSH-test of this university is accredited by the HRK (link see below).

It is your responsibility to acquire the required language skills for the enrolment in time.

Students who are coming to Göttingen via an exchange program (ERASMUS, University of California EAP, etc.) do not need to submit proof of German language skills.
