Students who would like to be picked up from the station or bus station upon their arrival in Göttingen may take advantage of our so-called „Exchange Buddy Service. Just fill out the registration form and send it to us at International Student Services 4 weeks before your arrival.

Each semester, International Student Services works together with approximately 50 - 60 volunteer Exchange Buddys, who have time and energy to greet students at the train station and bring them to their rooms. Students who have rent a room by the Studentenwerk will also be given their keys upon arrival.

The Exchange Buddys support Studium International on the introduction days for exchange studens and inform the new students about the details of the every day life of students in Göttingen. The Exchange Buddys also help to overcome language barriers and give hints to the orientation weeks of the different field of studies.

During the entire stay, the volunteers function as Buddys for the exchange students, help them with their questions on daily life or with problems and are pleased to be contacts for any other matters.

Since the Buddys are often former ERASMUS students themselves, they play an essential roll in bridging the cultural gap and easing the stress of daily life abroad by helping with questions and problems.
