Call for proposals 2014 - »Mobile learning«

Call for proposals! - »Mobile learning«

What does "mobile learning" mean? How can the University thereby support the students? What can modern teaching through e-learning look like? How can teaching and learning be well arranged through more mobility?

The University kindly invites its students to submit proposals for positive measures and new campaigns with the slogan »Mobile learning«. This year the deadline was May 30th, 2014.

So if you have great ideas on teaching and learning at the University of Goettingen but so far you do not know how to bring them about, it's quite simple: join in, take part and change things!
We are calling on all students to participate.

You can win cash prizes and other prizes worth a total of 3,000 Euros! The Ideas Competition is being held under the aegis of the Vice President for Teaching and Learning, Professor Dr. Ruth Florack.

Please note: neither comments or complaints without concrete proposals for solutions nor improvements that are already in development will be counted as entries to the Ideas Competition.

More mobility for students?
The contest is open to individuals and teams. Please explain your proposal or idea briefly.
For example, this might involve the following topics:

  • How can more mobility be introduced into the studies? How can the application of modern communication succeed in the field of teaching and learning?
  • What does mobility mean for services, advice and guidance? How can they be organised?
  • How can the contents of the curricula and university degree programmes be prepared so that students can access the documents from their mobile devices?
  • How can learning and the impulse to travel reasonably be combined?

  • Terms of participation and deadline for entries
To enter, please send your ideas until 30th May 2014 (informally, non-specific form) by e-mail to ideenwettbewerb[at]uni-goettingen.de (Subject: "Mobile learning" Ideas Competition 2014 [your name]) or per post to: Representative for Academic Quality, Subject: Ideas Competition 2014, Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Wilhelmsplatz 2, 37073 Göttingen.

Your proposal should include your contact details (name, address, email address, if available telephone number and matriculation number) and the following:
    a) a brief description of the current situation,
    b) an explanation of your suggestion (if an existing situation, explain why change is desirable) and possible ways of implementation,
    c) the improvements to be achieved with.

Further information and the rules for the Ideas Competition can be found at this site.
Ms Meike Gottschlich will be happy to help you with general questions or with your designs and drafts.

    Jury and Awards
Entries are evaluated once a year by an independent interdisciplinary jury and the best initiatives are awarded with a prize. The prizewinners will be notified about their award.
Following the competition, the prizewinning ideas, projects and solutions will be implemented, with the aim of sustainably securing and promoting academic quality (provided they can be realised).

You don't have to wait for the Ideas Competition to contact the university if you have ideas or proposals on the topic of teaching and learning. We are glad to hear from you at any time. Your questions, suggestions or criticism are welcome and we are looking forward to hearing your proposals!
