A1: Genomic Prediction for Quantitative Traits: Using Kernel Methods and Whole Genome Sequence Based Approaches

PhD student: Ulrike Ober
Supervisors: Prof. Dr. Henner Simianer, Prof. Dr. Martin Schlather
Graduation: September 2012

Thesis: online publication

The overall goal of the PhD project is the investigation of kernel-based prediction methods in the framework of animal breeding and genetics. This includes e.g. the application of geostatistical kriging methods in the high-dimensional space spanned by single nucleotide polymorphism data to predict total genetic values of individuals. The project also includes the world-wide first study on genomic prediction using whole genome sequence data, which has been implemented on the basis of the recently developed "Drosophila melanogaster Genetic Reference Panel".
