3rd CiBreed Fall Workshop - Summary

Summary of 3rd CiBreed Fall Workshop - October 14 & 15, 2021

Many thanks to all speakers, chairs, and participants for all your great contribution in the form of presentations and discussion!

We are happy to report that there was a lot of interest in attending our workshop: About 160 participants took the opportunity to follow the sessions that covered both plant and animal breeding research.

For the introductory session “Ethical considerations in breeding”, we were happy to have Peter Sandøe (HEALTH University of Copenhagen), Jan Grossarth (LMU München), and Amber Hartman Scholz (Leibniz-Institut DSMZ) as guest speakers. The following sessions were “Machine Learning” (keynote speaker: José Crossa (CIMMYT), “Breeding programs” (keynote speaker: Henner Simianer (University of Göttingen), “Hybrid Breeding” (keynote speaker: Wageningen University and Research), and “Free Communications”).

The summary of the workshop presentations - with the consent of the authors - was compiled by the CiBreed Communication Team.
