Isabel Toman (France)

Before studying Euroculture, Isabel obtained a degree in English Language and Literature with a minor in Latin-American Studies at the University of Hamburg, during which she spent one academic year at the University of Southampton, UK. Already during her BA, she was active in the student council of her faculty, the Hamburg Model UN organizing team, and a youth exchange organization (Ijel e.V.). Therefore, the MA Euroculture (2017-2019) allowed her to focus more on her interest in politics, cultural and international relations, and gain practical experience in her third semester (Professional Track, Internship with the DAAD in Mexico-City). Following an internship after the Master thesis, since February 2020 Isabel is working as Programme Officer for Sustainable Development at the International Association of Universities (IAU), based in Paris at UNESCO. Her research interests include politics, culture and languages, sustainability and higher education.

Euroculture experience:
“Meeting my fellow Euroculture students and learning about so much more than on the curriculum was one of my key takeaways from this programme. Funny enough, you end up crossing paths with former course mates later in professional and private life again, may it be in Mexico, Paris, Brussels or elsewhere. I very much appreciated the possibilities for mobility of the programme and the international outlook. Coming together at the IP in Krakow, was an intense learning experience but also lots of fun!”
