Tobias Hellmundt

Tobias Hellmundt is a PhD candidate at the Chair of International Economic Policy under supervision of Prof. Dr. Kis-Katos. He is a doctoral researcher at the Collaboroative Research Center 990: C10 - Localized environmental and land use policies, palm oil conversion and deforestation and part of the BMZ-DEval funded Rigorous Impact Evaluation "Ecological and socio-economic effects of the forest restoration program PLAE in Madagascar" .

Tobias specializes in development economics, environmental economics, and political economy, with a primary focus on using spatial data, remote sensing, and machine learning. His research centers on the drivers and consequences of land use changes, along with broader topics in political economy, environmental economics, and development economics. He also explores applications of remote sensing, machine learning, and geocoded data.
