SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

It is fascinating to me how molecular mechanisms that occur in our microscopic cells control bigger physiological mechanisms and life itself. I am curious to explore the numerous molecular mechanisms that take place to maintain cellular homeostasis and genome integrity.
Alterations on the genome like stochastic point mutations, chromosomal and epigenetic changes contribute to genomic variation and can cause genomic instability, which in turn, can affect gene activity and expression. Understanding the important role of genome-environment interplay in gene expression is very intriguing to me. I am interested to study how genes are regulated, and how gene expression can be altered in different individuals with variable genomic profiles and in different conditions like in diseases, development and aging. In Göttingen, I aim to broaden my knowledge in Molecular Biology, and explore the various research possibilities to advance in my scientific career.
