SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

Biology has always intrigued me right from my school days. From the anatomy of the human body to the components that are responsible for the formation of these distinct structures, I was always fascinated at how a complex organism, such as a human being, was ultimately composed of nothing but tiny cells. How beautifully these tiny cells are able to perform such complex functions and also coordinate them with so much ease, urged me to explore this mysterious world of genes and proteins and made my interest in Molecular Biology grow profound. How the breakdown of such a beautifully organised and well structured system affects the human body and leads to cancer is my current area of interest. I am keen to learn, explore and gain knowledge about the molecular and biochemical mechanisms involved in the development and growth of cancer, which can give insights not only on the normal functioning of the cell, but at the same time, can also help us devise new strategies for the problems faced in the treatment of cancer.
