SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

I am very interested in signal transduction and gene expression analysis. For example, in immunology cytokines activate diverse gene expression programs in immune cells and are essential for a successful response to a pathogen. It is intriguing to understand signaling and transcriptional gene regulation processes leading to inflammation or differentiation of cells. Several fields of molecular biology, such as developmental biology, are still new for me. Through this program I hope to gain a strong base of knowledge in preparation for future specialized research.
