Islamic Studies at the University of Göttingen and the al-Abbasiyya Shrine (Göttingen, 8 - 10 October 2018)

This international workshop brought together, for the first time, distinguished scholars from the Holy al-Abbasiyya Shrine in Kerbela, Iraq, the University of Göttingen, and several participants from the United States and other countries. Speakers addressed the scope of Arabic and Islamic Studies at their respective institutions of higher education - that is, topics that are highly relevant for peaceful interreligious dialogue in a globalized world.
The conference was convened by the Göttingen professors Jens Scheiner and Sebastian Günther.
