Dr. Mobarok Hossain

Hydrogeochemist

During the days of my graduation, I got attracted to investigate the water pollution caused by human activities. We, the human being, are major threats to the environment nowadays. Basically, I focus my research on the role of anthropogenic activities in various physical environments and how it can be remediated, specifically with the following objectives:

  • Geochemistry of water and soil, their quality, and impacts on human health
  • Biogeochemistry and trophic status (including nutrients) of ponds, lakes and wetlands
  • Isotope hydrogeochemistry
  • Bioremediation of emerging water and soil contaminants
  • Heavy metals in the environment and their health effects
  • GIS application in natural resource management
