Prof. Fernanda de Bastiani

Visiting Scholar

Prof. Dr. Fernanda De Bastiani is a statistician and Lecturer at the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil. She obtained her PhD in Statistics and conducts research in spatial statistics and semiparametric modeling, with particular interests in distributional regression, influential observations, outlier detection, and diagnostic methods such as Cook’s distance.

Prof. De Bastiani has received several recognitions for her contributions to statistical science, including the Johannes Kepler Award (2022) from the Brazilian Society of Applied and Computational Mathematics. She was also named an ISI/IBS Young Ambassador in 2021 and received the 2021 For Women in Science Award in Mathematical Sciences from L'Oréal Brazil, UNESCO, and the Brazilian Academy of Sciences.

Prof. De Bastiani has been actively involved in international statistical initiatives and collaborations, including participation in the International Statistical Institute World Statistics Congress and early-career programs organized by institutions such as Istat and the FAO.

From March 2026 to March 2027, Prof. De Bastiani is visiting the Chair of Statistics at the University of Göttingen as a visiting researcher with an Alexander von Humboldt fellowship.
