SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

We have long known that membrane lipid compositions undergo significant changes during key biological processes such as development and aging, learning and neurodegeneration, diet changes and metabolic disease. Recently with more sensitive MS methods and time resolved CryoET, we are now able to get a more accurate picture of these changes. I am interested in elucidating this interplay between membrane alterations and neuropathologies through a combination of CryoET, lipidomic profiling, and other methods; solving which may lead to new lipid targeted therapeutic strategies.
