Faisal Ahmad Shah is a senior lecturer at the department of Qur'an and Hadith, Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya, Malaysia.

He obtained his bachelor degree from the Faculty of Hadith of the Islamic University of Medina, Saudi Arabia in 1996. Later on, he came back to his country and achieved his master degree in Islamic studies from the National University of Malaysia (UKM). Due to his research interests, he decided to go to the University of Malaya (UM) to pursue his graduate studies and he could successfully complete his Ph.D. program in 2007.

His Ph.D. thesis entitled The Hadith Methodology of Shaikh al-Marbawi in the book of Bahr al-Madhi is about one of the prominent hadith scholars in the Malay Archipelago (nusantara) named Shaikh al-Marbawi (1896-1989) and his book Bahr al-Madhi published in twenty two volumes.

It should be noted that Faisal Ahmad Shah had conducted several projects dealing with hadith studies including Authority of Hadith in Malaysia:
