SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

I am interested in the mechanisms of protein degradation. These mechanisms, such as the ubiquitin-proteasome system, are important in terms of cellular homeostasis and the immune surveillance process. Understanding the basis and the complications in these mechanisms may help the discovery of novel therapies for diseases related to misfolded or aggregated proteins. Furthermore, their manipulation can improve immunotherapeutic strategies against cancerous or infected cells.
