Our project work focuses on four primary areas in the Coastal Cordillera in Chile representing four different climatic zones. It it is a region with uniquely rich conditions for studying and quantifying biotic interactions with topography. The North-south orientation of the region captures a large ecological and climate gradient ranging from hyper-arid to temperate to humid conditions (for details see EarthShape Research Initiative's field sites).

  • Pan de Azúcar National Park
  • arid zone
  • Santa Gracia Natural Reserve
  • transition zone between semi-arid\Mediterranean to arid zones
  • La Campana National Park
  • semi-arid\Mediterranean zone
  • Nahuelbuta National Park
  • humid temperate zone
