Core modules

In winter, the core modules are usually offered by Göttinger professors who, with their diverse and profound expertise, have been instrumental in the establishment of the GOMIL Program and currently constitute its Academic Board and core teaching staff.

Professor Kai Ambos is a distinguished figure in international criminal law, known for his role as a Judge at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague and as the author of the Treatise on International Criminal Law (OUP). He is also recognized for his contributions to the Colombia peace process and is the recipient of numerous prizes, including the Lower Saxony Science Prize and the Order of Merit "Carlos Lemos Simmonds" by the Colombian Press Association.

Professor Andreas Paulus is an expert in public international law, noted for his Commentary on the Charter of the United Nations (OUP) and his significant experience as a former Justice at the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany. He also serves as a substitute member of the Venice Commission for Democracy through Law.

Professor Peter-Tobias Stoll is an expert on international economic and environmental law, as demonstrated, for example, through his authoritative Commentaries on World Trade Law (Brill/Nijhoff) and his inclusion on the European Commission's list of candidates suitable for appointment as arbitrators and TSD experts for dispute settlement panels under trade agreements to which the EU is a party.

Electives

Electives are taught by leading academics and practitioners who uniquely designed them for the GOMIL program to allow students exposure to current developments in international legal research, complemented by essential practical insights.

Professor Christina Binder holds the Chair for International Law and International Human Rights Law at the Bundeswehr University Munich since April 2017. Before, she was University Professor of International Law at the Department of European, International and Comparative Law at the University of Vienna and Deputy Director of the interdisciplinary Research Centre "Human Rights".

Agata Daszko joined Edinburgh Law School as an Early Career Fellow in International Economic Law in August 2024. Prior to joining the Law School, she was a Research Fellow at the University of Göttingen, where she is also completing her PhD thesis on environmental impact assessments in international investment law and arbitration.

Tim Eicke K.C. is a former judge at the European Court of Human Rights (2016–2025), elected in respect of the United Kingdom. He is now a practising barrister at Essex Court Chambers in London.

Professor Aeyal Gross is a member of the Faculty in Tel Aviv University's Faculty of Law, where he teaches International Law and Constitutional Law. He regularly teaches as Visiting Professor at SOAS, University of London.

Professor Holger Hestermeyer is the Chair of International and EU Law at the Diplomatic Academy Vienna (Vienna School of International Studies). He joined the DA Vienna after nearly a decade in UK academia.

Dr. Pierre-Yves Marro is a Counsel at Quinn Emanuel Zurich and a Privatdozent at the University of Zurich, where he teaches International Litigation and International Organisations. His practice focuses on complex cross-border disputes and international arbitration.

Dr. Ylly Pacheco was a Senior Research Fellow at the Department for International Economic and Environmental Law of the Institute of International Law and European Law at the Georg-August University of Göttingen, Germany.

Dr. Simon Weber is an Associate at Quinn Emanuel Zurich. His practice encompasses complex cross-border litigation and international arbitration, with specialisations in energy and infrastructure disputes. Prior to joining Quinn Emanuel, Simon was a private research associate for an ICJ judge.
