Language Tests English

Applicants whose native language is not English must show very good English language skills. Very good English language skills should be proven by passing one internationally accredited test. The following in particular shall serve as proof:

(a) Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English: minimum grade "B",
b) Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English: minimum grade "C",
c) IELTS Academic ("International English Language Testing System": at least
band 6.5,
d) "Association of Language Testers In Europe (ALTE)": at least level 4,
e) Internet-based test of the "Test of English as a Foreign Language" (TOEFL iBT):
at least 85 points,
f) UNIcert: at least level "III",
g) other accredited or standardized certificates after determination of equivalence to the
equivalence to the certificates according to letters a) to f).

As a rule, successful completion of the test may not date back more than two years prior to receipt of the application for admission to the Master's degree program. Applicants who have spent at least two years studying or working in an English-speaking country within the last three years prior to receipt of the application for admission are exempt from the obligation to provide proof of a test. Proof of sufficient language skills must be provided by 15.11. at the latest.

The following proofs are not recognized: Abitur certificate, Bachelor's thesis written in English, work and travel stays, etc.
