Focus and interests of research
German-British history in the 18th century, administration and political history of the Early Modern Age, transnational historiography, regional history of Lower Saxony (especially the Electorate of Hanover), history of universities, diplomatic history, global history

Doctoral dissertation project
The Hanoverian German Chancery in London as mediator of the personal union between Great Britain and Hanover 1714–1770.
I am interested in the practical functioning of a personal union in the 18th century and the administrative and communicative structures it was based on. The main focus will be on the German Chancery in London as its main institution and channel of communication. Next to the material as well as social conditions, the project centres on certain key aspects in order to analyse the communicative actions within the framework of a composite monarchy.
