Working Group Prof. Dr. Holger Militz:

Within this research, new wood composites will be developed by modifying wood cellwalls with reactive resins. Goal is to create new and improved wood properties with main focus on water prove, dimensional stable and durable wood. To reach this goal, reactive resins will have to penetrate the wood cellwall. Impregnation patterns and chemical reactions will be researched. The distribution profiles will be evaluated with modern microscopical techniques. A "Nanotom" (Computer tomography) will give new insights at 3D level of approx. 0.5 - 0.8 µm. Cooperation with other research groups allow the use of ETEM, ATM and UMSP techniques.
