About the division

The division of Applied Plant Nutrition is located at the Institute of Applied Plant Nutrition (IAPN). IAPN is a Public-private-Partnership, a cooperation between the University of Göttingen and the private sector company K+S Minerals and Agriculture GmbH.
The cooperation is beneficial to both sides as it strengthens activities in the field of plant nutrition at the University of Göttingen and promotes identification of future fields of research, by establishing a dialogue between research and practice. The independence of research conducted at the University is regulated by the statutes of the University of Göttingen. The contract concluded between K+S Minerals and Agriculture GmbH and the University is clearly based on these guidelines, which therefore also apply to IAPN.

Besides research and teaching, knowledge exchange is one major activity of the working group at the institute. IAPN strives to expand its cooperation with professionally complementary institutions and researchers, nationally as well as internationally.
The institute aims to transfer the already available scientific knowledge into practice more intensively, but also to formulate open research questions jointly with national and local practitioners and scientists.
