    Types of theses

    At the professorship, both theses with own empirical analysis (for example, using data from Refinitiv Workspace) and literature-based, conceptual theses are supervised.


    TOPICS

    CORPORATE FINANCE:

    This topic area covers all topics dealing with corporate finance in the broadest sense. These include, for example, issues relating to dividend policy, capital structure, IPOs and M&As, use of various financing instruments, cost of capital, etc. Financial corporate governance issues can also be addressed, such as questions about the impact of certain governance elements on financing issues or other financial decisions.



    INVESTMENTS AND CAPITAL MARKETS:

    This topic area deals with questions of investment and the functioning of capital markets. Examples of issues in this area are the performance of investment strategies, factor investing, the comparison of active and passive investments, financial innovations or the increasing importance of green and sustainable financial investments. Possible topics on the functioning of markets deal with market anomalies, the efficiency of markets, their liquidity as well as their systemic stability.



    SUSTAINABILITY FOCUS:

    Both in the topic area of corporate finance and in the topic area of investments and capital markets, the focus is on topics related to sustainability. This is due to the great topicality and importance of sustainability for financial research and practice. It is also in line with the research orientation of the chair.
