SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

As a geneticist I have always been interested in understanding the role that genes play in the development and function of the nervous system. I am fascinated by the fact that even a small change in our genes can completely alter the way we think, act, perceive the world and live our lives. I am mainly interested in exploring genetic aspects of neuropathology. I want to learn more about the genetic architecture and the interactions between genes and the environment that lead to such disorders. I believe that finding treatment and developing diagnostic methods might be possible by combining knowledge of genetics and neurophysiology.
