SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

I have special interest for neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia, mainly for two reasons: On one side, the great complexity of these disorders provides an opportunity to understand how the nervous system works, from a molecular basis until the manifestation of superior functions of the mind, such as cognition, feelings, formulation of concepts, beliefs, language, etc. The second reason is that this better understanding provides multiple opportunities in the management of these extensively prevalent conditions. To achieve this, translational neuroscience is needed. However, to achieve this goal, an excellent understanding of neurosciences is required. My goal is to have enough experience and knowledge of the basic level, to be able to work on potential treatments for neurological diseases.
