SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

Over the past years my scientific interest has been focused on the formation and occurrence of human diseases at the molecular level. Therefore, I am fascinated how tiny errors in our genome arise, for example, during mitosis or meiosis and how they can have such vast effects on the human body. I am also interested in the resulting proteins and their possibly misled interaction within cell signaling pathways. I think it is very important to understand the cause of a disease at the molecular level and integrate this knowledge into the intricate network of the whole organism to interpret and cure a disease successfully. For this reason, it is important to combine the knowledge of many different fields of biology, such as genetics, biochemistry, developmental biology and cell biology. During the Molecular Biology Program I wish to expand my knowledge in these fields to specify my research focus. Furthermore, I am excited to explore new fields of molecular life sciences I am not familiar with yet.
