SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

I am fascinated by how the most basic cellular mechanisms and the constant interactions with the environment lead to the formation of entire, unique personalities. The field of psychopathology, i.e. the assessment of the underlying brain pathophysiology involved in the developmental course and manifestation of severe psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, seems particularly intriguing. I would like to contribute to an overall better understanding of neuropsychiatric illnesses and improve the diagnosis and the personalized treatment of these disorders in a bench-to-bedside approach.
