SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

I am interested in exploring how navigation cells in the brain that are activated during conscious activity, such as place cells, are reactivated during sleep to promote memory and learning. I want to explore how dreams could be semi-conscious results or by-products of the activation of these cells. I am also interested in the possible adverse effects of neurological disorders on these processes and understanding the mechanisms underlying the disruption of sleep, learning, and memory in individuals affected by these disorders.
