SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

I am interested in developing my abilities as a scientist and experimenting with a broad range of areas within molecular biology. My main interest, however, is the emerging field of epigenetics. I am principally interested in studying the mechanisms by which gene expression is regulated through DNA methylation and different histone modifications. Moreover I would like to investigate how different forms of epigenetic mechanisms interact to silence or activate genes. Since the molecular biology program offers the opportunity to work with a varied range of fields and techniques I would like to immerse myself with other areas of molecular biology as well. Ideally I would be interested in contributing to the development of a novel technique to detect epigenetic markers.
