Methods: I am familiar with include cloning in prokaryotic models, protein purification by affinity chromatography, analysis of protein interactions using Celluspots® peptide arrays, epifluorescent and atomic force microscopy as well as accelerated solvent extraction and high performance liquid chromatography.

SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

During the last decade, scientists around the world have closely investigated the mechanisms that drive spatial and temporal coordination of gene expression. Phenoma such as DNA replication, cell cycle progression, oncogene activation, DNA repair mechanisms and recombination events are all the results of an extremely well organized process where chromatin biochemistry plays a pivotal role. It is for this reason that I want to focus my research on better understanding epigenetic modifications. The fascinating world of epigenetic modifications is but a chapter in the complex field of molecular biology. Immunology, biomedicine, virology and oncology are also topics I would be very keen to explore.
