SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

My major interest lies in the visualization of structure and communication of neural networks. Genetically encoded tools already used in optogenetics and live cell imaging offer a novel, minimally invasive opportunity to get access to circuits on a cellular level. I want to contribute to the development of techniques that will enable us to VIEW the vastly complicated orchestra of neuronal communication in a different light and thereby lead on a better understanding of its function.
