SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

I want to better understand the process of differential gene expression - how two clonogenic cells adopt different cell fates under identical conditions? I believe, yeast being a unicellular eukaryote is an ideal model system for undertaking this study to establish the fundamental molecular events involved. These can then be extrapolated to higher organisms for understanding the more intricate developmental processes.
