SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

Is the human brain actually able to explain itself? This was the very first question that captivated my admiration for neurosciences. Besides the brain’s puzzling complexity, I find it absolutely amazing how neuronal networks can determine perception, personality, and memory. My goal is first to gain more insight into the physiological and pathological functioning of individual neurons and synapses, both physically and biochemically, and then to proceed to a more systemic approach in the investigation of learning and memory processes.
