Social Science Teachers' Participation in Professional Development

Project Information:

Teachers make use of professional development programmes (PD) to expand their competencies and improve teaching for their students. When it comes to social science subjects, however, there is barely any empirical research on the supply of such programmes. This project investigates what constitutes PD programmes available to teachers in Lower Saxony, how their supply developed from before to ‘after’ the COVID-19 pandemic and which factors may explain teacher participation. The basis for these analyses is a secondary data set of all PD programmes from 2018 to 2022, courtesy of the Niedersächsische Landesinstitut für schulische Qualitätsentwicklung (NLQ). .
