SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

I believe that the embryo is a treasure trove of information on how life develops from a single cell to a fully developed, multicellular creature. Another aspect of biology that I am interested in is the Immune system and its ability to mount defense and offense against a myriad of threats to the human body. It amazes me to no end on how the interplay of molecular, cellular or genetic mechanisms inside a single cell makes complex life possible. Hence, I would like to work towards contributing to fundamental knowledge to gain insights into the underpinnings of development and regeneration. This insight can further pave way in understanding the various disorders associated with the dysregulation of these developmental processes. In the future, I would like to do research towards enabling therapeutic interventions as well.
