IT support for the Faculty of Chemistry
With Norbert Neisen's retirement at the end of 2023, IT responsibilities have been reorganized. They are now essentially no longer located directly in the IPC, but rather in the chemical workshops in the electronics department. Dominik Oberdiek will assume most of these responsibilities, with Lars Rohne representing him.

This results in the following regulations:
Does a separate GoeChem workshop order need to be created for each IT assistance request?
A separate GoeChem order does not need to be created for the vast majority of smaller IT jobs because Oberdiek/Rohne can write the hours on the IPC standing order. Only when really large orders are placed that require a whole working day or more (e.g. setting up a new computer or a measuring computer with interfaces and tests in the laboratory) do we ask for a separate GoeChem order.
How should the installation of updates on the computers be organised (up to now Norbert Neisen has done this partly without being asked)?
Most computers are set to automatically download and install updates during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. It is therefore important not to switch off the computers on Tuesday evening, but only to switch off the monitors. If problems occur, Oberdiek/Rohne will of course help on request. But they will not look after the computers without being asked.
How should new orders for computers be organised?
In principle, the research departments must order new computers themselves via their own cost centre via Goechem online shops (currently DELL) or the central purchasing department. On request, Oberdiek/Rohne will help with the selection and, if necessary, with the subsequent installation.
Who issues the initial password for GWDG access to new employees?
In future, Dominik Oberdiek and deputies Rainer Oswald, Burkhard Geil and Markus Hold will be responsible for the GWDG IDM; from 2024, Lars Rohne will also be authorised. Before the GWDG accounts of new employees are activated in the IDM, Oberdiek/Rohne/Oswald/Geil/Hold must always first ask Clemens Heymann or Josef Schikowski whether a laboratory security briefing and IT security briefing has already been organised.
Who creates GWDG accounts for visiting scientists/scholarship holders or
for Bachelor's or Master's students as part of their final theses? Oberdiek/Rohne/Oswald/Geil/Hold should receive the IDM authorisations for the creation of such accounts, i.e. you no longer have to submit an application to the GWDG.
Who creates GWDG function accounts?
Oberdiek/Rohne/Oswald/Geil/Hold are to receive the IDM authorisations for the creation of such accounts, i.e. you no longer have to submit an application to the GWDG.
Who is in charge of the IPC website?
Oberdiek/Rohne have been given access to the GCMS system and can make changes to the IPC homepage on request. They also look after the IPC's web server, if this is still required.
Who has access to the network cabinets in the IPC?
Oberdiek/Rohne are to take over the keys from Neisen. This gives them access to the network cabinets and allows them to make changes/repairs to them in consultation with Rainer Oswald if necessary. Oberdiek is the "IT specialist" at the IPC, who fulfils this role under the direction of Rainer Oswald as IT security coordinator.
What about the issue and reordering of toner?
The current toner/ink stocks will be given to the departments until 03/2024. Responsibility for reordering will then lie with the research departments, which will have to order via Goechem online shops or the central purchasing department itself via their own cost centre.
If problems arise, Oberdiek/Rohne will of course help on request.
