GAIA

About the project

The academic landscape is facing significant challenges and opportunities in light of the rapid developments in the field of artificial intelligence. Students and teachers are increasingly utilising generative AI - but are coming up against limits. Universities must actively shape this development in order to offer students and teachers reliable learning support. The project aims to develop and didactically embed GAIA, an AI-based, student-centred tutor that opens up individual learning paths and enriches learning through adaptive, interactive dialogues. GAIA is intended to accompany everyday student life in app form and, on the basis of dialogue-based interactions, offer learning aids in courses, exam preparation and networking with advice centres, among other things.

In technical terms, GAIA utilises the latest approaches such as knowledge tracing and generative AI. The pedagogical integration of GAIA into various teaching-learning formats then allows the potential of AI to be used specifically for learner-centred didactics. GAIA offers a continuous flow of data that allows teachers and counsellors to gain valuable insights into the learning processes on an anonymous level in order to optimally respond to the needs of the students.

The project also provides for the introduction of two new courses in the Bachelor's and Master's programmes in business education.
